Mostly, this is for the kind of small book fandoms where I either loved the canon and thought fanfic wasn't too necessary, or I disliked something about canon and went looking for fix-its. If it has both a literary and television presence, then whichever form of media I prefer determines which post it goes in - it won't be in both.
*Yes, literature includes comics if I don't follow the movies/television version(s).
**Literature also includes mythology, as long as it isn't explicitly from Hercules/Xena fandom.

Created in October '17 and backdated to keep all Small Fandom posts together.

A Song of Ice and Fire (a.k.a. "Game of Thrones"):
~Castles in the Clouds, by Kereea. AU, Tywin is the one who dies at the Purple Wedding. Tyrion inherits Casterly Rock, and leaves Kings Landing with Sansa and Shae. A world in which not everything goes terribly! Gen, although obviously Tyrion/Shae. Sadly still a WIP.
~Kindness, Not Fear, by SecondStarOnTheLeft. AU in that it couldn't possibly turn out this nicely. Sansa comes back to Kings Landing after Daenerys takes the Iron Throne, and the chapters are the perspectives of 5 different people on this (Jon, Daenerys, Tyrion, Margaery and Sansa). Eventually overt Tyrion/Sansa; Daenerys wants it to be Jon/Daenerys.
~The Undone and the Divine, by mardia. AU, soulmark style. Jaime has to move North when his soulmark reveals he's matched with Robb Stark. A lot of canon is avoided or fixed. Jaime/Robb.
~The author Astolat's work. It's Jaime Lannister-centric, with a variety of pairings. Particular highlights include:
-A Man of Honor: A Regency-style AU, in which Robb Stark comes to town as the newest Lord Stark and upends society. Jaime/Robb.
-Pretty: AU, everything goes well because Jaime realizes he wants to wed and bed Brienne, and manages to do so before most of Season 4's tragedies. Jaime/Brienne.

~The author Janie_Tangerine's works. She prefers the characters of Robb Stark, Theon Greyjoy, Jon Snow, Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister for her stories. In particular, I'm calling out these:
   -the
Some Flowers Bloom Dead series; AU in which Robb and his wife don't go to the Red Wedding, and Robb ends up rescuing Theon from Ramsay Bolton. Robb/Theon, but also Robb/Jeyne Westerling and her complete approval of Robb/Theon.
   -
Calling All Skeletons: AU, Theon dies when Ramsay Bolton takes Winterfell, but in a world with Others, there's no way he's not going to avenge himself and make his way to the Twins to prevent a tragedy. Gen, but Robb/Theon implied.
   -
Old Haunts are for Forgotten Ghosts: an inverse AU to the above. Robb still dies at the Red Wedding, but there's no way he's not going to avenge himself and make his way to Ramsay Bolton's wedding to prevent a tragedy. Gen, but Robb/Theon implied.
   -
Now we're ghosts and we're praying for winter: Theon goes to the Wall and meets Jon Snow again. Includes Azor Ahai theory. Jon/Theon.
   -
Searching for a heart of gold: Jaime thinks he's found the one true knight in Westeros.

Alternate Universes: Hitler's Time Travel Exemption Act:
(This is not, strictly speaking, a fandom, but rather a trope that is universally acknowledged in speculative fiction - to wit, time travelers can never successfully kill/incapacitate Hitler or prevent the Third Reich. Any attempts will result in failure at best, and the tropes of You Already Changed The Past, Nice Job Breaking It Hero, or Godwin's Law of Time Travel at worst.)
~
Wikihistory, by Desmond Warzell. It's a hard life, being the moderator of a time-travelers online group in the early 2100s, and having to mop up every time someone kills Hitler.
~
Alternate History Search Results, by John Scalzi. There's a company that would like to offer you an amazing discount for a search on possible ways Hitler could've died on a specific date of your choosing! With extra throwaway jokes relating to who the first person to land on the moon is.
~
Richard and Maureen's Amazing Time Travel Adventure, by Yahtzee. One of the "Third Reich Wins" scenarios, but since the time-travelers don't have Ripple-Proof Memory, they switch to speaking German and decorating with swastikas without noticing.

The Belgariad
~
The Solitude of the King, in which Garion's son and his pet wolf get better acquainted. In human form, thankfully - and isn't it nice that reverse-werewolves (idk what else to call shapeshifting wolves) are canon?
~
gratia gratium parit, by Feather. Relg and Taiba's story - because two self-involved teenagers obviously weren't capable of noticing what really happened during the Belgariad.

The Books of the Raksura:
~How River Learned To Stop Worrying And Love the Moon, by oriflamme. River takes a while to admit his attraction, and wallows in guilt. Eventual River/Moon.
~See also the FFVII post for a crossover in the Raksura setting.

The Canterbury Tales:
~Mordre, She Wroot, by sistermagpie. Author's summary: "At least one pilgrim will not make it to Canterbury." I love the Wife of Bath so much.

Greek Mythology:
~Gods and Monsters, a short stories series by Shanastoryteller. Variations and retellings of myths, usually with twists. I especially like Arachne's story. Active WIP.
~
Kore
, by Oneiriad. The Persephone story, but excellently updated (Persephone was actually trying to get to the Underworld, for reasons that boil down to her escaping a sexual marriage since she identifies as asexual).

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle:
~The Never-Puts-Down-The-Phone Cure, by Scioscribe. Just like a new book chapter!

The Perilous Gard:
~The Mortal, by Castiron. There's a price to be paid for losing a teind-challenge.

The Sandman:
~
The Boy Who Gave Away His Birthday, by monkeycrackmary. Daniel-Dream/Chris Walker; they become friends as Chris gets older.

The Scholomance:
~graduation, by taywen. A look at the mindset of Book 1's valedictorian, Clarita.
~Rearrange to let you in, by Surreptitiously. The school may or may not be haunted by old students. (Post Book 1, but the author manages to get close to a Book 2 reveal regarding the motives of the school.)

Tamora Pierce Books:
~The Dark Is Light Enough, by harborshore. An AU for the Tortall "Song of the Lioness" series. Maybe Alex and Thom could have saved each other. Alex/Thom.
~The Lichtenberg Figure, by MirandaTam. An addition to the Circles world. Tris is the only one who learns how to use her power for healing.
~The Realms of the Immortals, by Nirejseki. An AU for the Tortall series "Immortals Quartet". Role reversal: Rikash is new to his position as Lord of the Stormwing Stone Tree Nation, and wary of the seasoned immortal-killer Veralidaine Weirynsra. Rikash/Daine, past Daine/Numair.
~Royal Courtship is a Tricky Proposal, by Merriman. A coda to the Tortall series "Tricksters", this is all about Dovasary and her search for an appropriate consort, done in epistolary style from background characters.

Watchmen:
~
My Body is a Cage, in which Rorschach has always been a woman.
~
Cracked Reflections, in which Rorschach is not killed but rather sent to Gotham.

The Witcher:
Jaskier/Geralt Fics:
~A year and a day, by Shanastoryteller. Geralt doesn't want to honor Jaskier's last request. He doesn't know that his choice of adjective is incorrect.
~No reason to run, by SummerFrost. Just before they meet for the first time, Jaskier gets cursed. He and Geralt travel together to find the cure and gradually fall in love.
~Singing Silver, by Fledgling Queen. Crossover with Spinning Silver. Jaskier spent some time in the magical kingdom of the Staryk, a long time ago.
Geralt/Emhyr Fics:
~Blooded Crown, by astolat. Emhyr asks Geralt to pretend to be his affair partner, as he suspects Ciri's future in-laws of treason and wants to lull them into complacency.
~Misethere, by astolat. The emperor is poisoned into love - and it's no laughing matter, as this poison is known for driving people mad if they are not regularly having sex with their target of affection. Geralt is said target, and is trying to find an unknown cure while keeping Emhyr sane.
~Never Did Run Smooth, by astolat. Jaskier appears to have been turned into a frog, so Geralt tries to fulfill the witch's conditions for lifting the curse and accidentally marries the emperor in doing so.
~The War of Silver and Ash, by astolat. Geralt lets the emperor know that vampires are real and that humans are currently the underdogs if a war started, given that witchers are going extinct. Emhyr tasks him with giving humanity a fighting chance.
~A Year in Toussaint, by astolat. It's really hard for famous or important people to retire. Maybe fixing an age-old injustice while battling ghouls will work as a relaxing vacation.
