Fandom Trope #1: Mpreg

trace_by_echoIt's difficult to admit, but I sometimes want nothing more than to read about a different world where those who identify as male have to handle all the inconveniences of pregnancy. Mpreg, as a trope, isn't for everyone, and I have to be in the right mood for it, but the recs below are for fics that pass my readability muster - in brief, mpreg is not an excuse to rewrite a character as stereotypically feminine, and the babies that result are no reason to turn the characters into mushy emotional wrecks. When fics are for a specific fandom, they will appear in the fandom recs as well... this post is just for conveniently concentrating them in one easy-to-find spot.
Anime/Manga Mpreg
Axis Powers: Hetalia
~Number 51 and Part 2. In which America finds out, too late to amend his bed-hopping habits, that Puerto Rico is going to become his newest state. America/many.
~52 Different Words for Snow and Part 2. Russia gets America pregnant with Alaska. The intro is modern day - or mid-2009, actually, with a wonderful scene involving a confused Alaskan governor. Abandoned, but there's several similar fics in the Russia/America archives, at the Kink Meme, and one by Amygirl.
~Video Testimonial and adjacent sequel. Gen, implied past America/Texas. Texas-centric fics, with Texas as one of the three "adopted" children of America - the others being Vermont and Hawaii, which all had independent governments before annexation. The mpreg is in the past, with New Mexico as the result.
Bleach
~Safe in My Arms, by AyotliKestrel. Sometimes I need to read Arrancar/Ichigo mpreg fic; of the lot, this one is complete and not horrendously OOC if you accept that hollows have certain bestial pack instincts. While the arrancar pack mixes and matches pairings over time, the most prevalent ones in this fic are Grimmjow/Ichigo, Ulquiorra/Starrk, Ichigo/Szayel, and Ulquiorra/Ichigo. There are additional bonus chapters, mostly as alternate Chapter 1s (with Ichigo giving birth attended by different people).
~Unwilling Consort, by Aria6. Another mpreg, but refreshingly Ichigo is not the pregnant one. His powers have been slowly coming back, and his inner hollow takes advantage of the fact that Ichigo isn't aware of his return to sneak out and kidnap a "pet" arrancar for himself. Ichigo finds out when his hollow leaves a pregnant and bound Grimmjow in his bedroom. One more chapter, to establish that Grimmjow recovered from labor, would finish this story nicely. Eventual Grimmjow/Ichigo; warning for nonconsensual sex between Grimmjow and the inner hollow, and nonconsensual impregnation.
~What to Expect When You're Not Expecting, by WhipOfLightHeartOfSword. Mpreg as a natural consequence of unprotected sex between men with high reiryoku. Byakuya and Renji had an understanding before Renji left for a human world mission. Seven months later, and Byakuya's leading a mission in Hueco Mundo when the passageway between worlds breaks and his team is stranded. It's an old WIP, but the labor and birth scenes are at least done. Renji/Byakuya, background Izuru/Shuuhei.

~Reflections of You, by Krackensan. Quasi-mpreg, The scientists kept some samples from their pilots... samples that come to light only after they get used. Heero/Duo.
Naruto
~Dreams are Lives You Have Not Yet Lived, by oroburos69. In a vaguely noncanon future (Tsunade's still Hokage, and Sakura & Kakashi are the last Team 7 members left), Sakura misinterprets Tsunade's drunk scribbles as a powerful and transferable fertility jutsu. Kakashi is caught in the effects. Technically unfinished, but well worth reading as is.
Saiyuki
~Small Miracles, by Trensaddiction. Technically, a mpreg... but it's Jeep. So, a vehicle-dragon's egg.
~The More Things Change, by Emungere. Crossover with Ranma 1/2. Hakkai/Gojyo. 2 of the group get cursed. While there's no technical mpreg, Gojyo thinks a great deal about whether he's willing to get pregnant in his female form.
Trigun:
~Blossoms Borne by the Human Tree, by Kittenmittens. Vash('s body) reacts badly to the possibility of Wolfwood's death, living him pregnant and Wolfwood part Plant. WIP.

~The Schwarzkinder series, by Daegaer. Total crackfic, at the beginning every member of Schwarz is pregnant by a different means (alien probe, swallowed a seed, immaculate conception, etc.), and they do/don't deal with it in different ways. Mostly written as drabbles.

~don't don't don't let's start (I've got a weak heart), by suzukiblu. AU, of the ABO kind. Jesse's used to switching to a new heat partner every time, but when Genji refuses him, he starts to get a little fixated. Genji's trying not to break.

~Gardening, by The Feels Whale. Technically, it's not mpreg, but to hobbits, gender doesn't matter for reproduction since it involves planting a literal seed. Bilbo/Thorin (who was unaware of this).
Inception
~The Pavlov's Bell series: Pavlov's Bell and Part 2, All's Fair in Love and Werewolves and Part 2 and Part 3, What Happens in Reno, and The Werekitten Chronicles and Part 2 and Part 3, all by The Cake Dispensary. AU, in that they still have dreamsharing, but Eames is a werewolf and Arthur is "slightly feline". The first story is the get-together, the second story is Eames' family's reaction, the third story is a flashback to pre-story 1, and the final story has mpreg and babies.
~The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized, by the_ragnarok. Another AU with mpreg; people are alphas, betas or omegas, and omega males can get pregnant. Add in a healthy dose of politics.

~Advanced Techniques in Propagation, by sleeperservice. A woman with a casual interest in succulent plants and a business in carpentry is surprised by the arrival of her horticulture penpal on her doorstep; he's used forbidden magic on his plants, and accidentally knocked himself up.
~Cultural Collision, by Udunie. After a gentle alien takeover of Earth, a young man finds himself short of cash & dreams, and willing to get paid for carrying alien eggs. He wasn't expecting to become fond of the male alien who requested him.
~Dragon Rider series, by BiffElderberry. In a world where dragon riders have to be ready to incubate if their dragon goes into rut without a same-species partner around, one particular rider seems to be unduly attractive to every dragon and dragonet he meets.
~Goblin Fruit, by Nowanuno. Goblin reproduction requires a human, but it's very difficult to find one given the cultural and language barriers. Luckily for the dwindling tribe, they find a lonely young male who in turn finds happiness with his new hybrid family.
~It Came From The Sea, by darlingstars. Technically not mpreg, but it sure looks like it. A college student who enjoys the beach makes friends with a sentient slime, which eventually follows him home; over time as unusual roommates, they become lovers, and the slime asks for even closer levels of intimacy: living in the young man's intestines. It can come and go freely, and when it's inside the human looks full-term pregnant.
~The Worst Thing Ever, by Artemis1000. Part of the Human/Gomassi agreement includes having willing humans host gomassi eggs. Ryan has no attachments and likes the idea of being paid to watch TV and incubate; he wasn't prepared for the gomassi female to check up on him regularly, or for her to try to liven up his life. I would love this as a novella.
